Celeste Map Reviews #30
This review is a bit shorter I think? But not really. I'm goung through a whole ass collab too after all. Let's meet our lucky THREE!
FIRST! - Difficulty Spike by Donker19 and Moladan! - Once meant for a collab that ceased to be, this map has released as a standalone, brought to us by two of modded's best, and with music by iosun!!! As the name may imply, this map is chock full of spikes! The refills are sharp, the floor, ceiling, blocks, stylegrounds; it's all spikes and it always have been! The gameplay is very dashful, featuring little tech Instead, the mosaic garden style of refills are used in conjunction with the vast amount of spiky gates to create semi-precise dashing sequences. I loved this gameplay style; it felt very fast paced without any speed tech and that is helped by the wonderful soundtrack composed by the awesome io herself! I was jamming out while navigating this spikefest and i enjoyed every minute! It's only about expert or so, so give it a go! Overall, no actual final room syndrome ZERO OUTTA TEN, 9.8/10
SECOND! - Winter Collab 3 by, well I'll let you know! - This supersurprise collab was put together in days! A quick meme it must be then right? WRONG! But not because of a gas leak, but because host Sapphire_Xer0 is insane and still managed to make a well decorated lobby and heartside for this thing! Anyway, I think I will do a rapid 7-review of this collab since it's small, here I go!!
UNO! - aon's Ultra by aonkeeper4! - Very fun, liked the 6a vibe. 9.6/10
DOS! - aon's Ultra R-side: Rambunctious Reverse Remix by 4repeeknoa! - ebiv a6 eht dekil ,nuf yreV, 01\6.9
TRES! - Ultras Can Go Back And Forth by aonkeeper4 and 4repeeknoa! - revese chain ultra wounce is a fun jaunty move. This map was cool too! 9.3/10
CUATRO! - The Heaven Below You by andytampan! - Keyhub!!! The custom bubbles were fun to see, 9.2/10.
CINCO! - Temple Tantrum by Daorex! - Fun, creative, though very routeful theo move block gameplay! Took me the longest of the seven! 9.1/10
SIX IN SPANISH! - The Mirror Inside by Daorex and andytampan! - Very cool fusion of the two ideas, thoroughly enjoyed it! Quite cheesy tho. 9.3/10
SEVEN IN SPANISH! - The Threeside by Sapphire_Xer0! - The 2 flags were huge bangers, the deco was sublime and the song choice was great too! The f1 wounce is a bit sideeye tho! 9.7/10.
What a cool (ha) collab! Go check it out! Overall, wait there's a FOURTH wollab in the works??, 10.2/10
THIRD! - Duetside by Crispybag! - This peak-filled journey will bring you on a trip down memory-lane, exploring not only the mapping history of creator Crispybag, but also the maps birthday recipient Donker19! A fusion style heartside of 2 epic mappers with cool looking deco? I expected a lot coming into this and crispy delivered it in spades! The map is impossibly beautiful; i love the overarching blue nature theme throughou and the stylegrounds and atmosphere are perfect. The music track is wonderful at conveying the celebration of maps old and new, and has a cool progression too! But of course the main focus is the fusion gameplay! There are 9 flags with varying amounts of tutorial rooms. Here's the thing, I never once really ran into anything I could say was amiss. EVERY FLAG was peak fiction gameplay, even the longer ones. If this map was in a try not to be fun challenge it is getting disqualified completely. It was so fucking GOOD! I've gotta play more crispy maps cuz I definitely recognized way more of the donker ones. Don't be surprised if cmr 32 is a crispybag special! (Yes cmr 31 is being reserved for something else). There's also a berry but I ain't routing allat sorry :3 But yeah yeah this map is perfect go play it. Overall, PLAY IT. 13.1/10

Instapaper 9.1: Logged-In Sites, Paywall Detection, and Settings Redesign
Today, we’re launching Instapaper 9.1 for iOS and macOS, which includes support for Logged-In Sites, Paywall Detection, Settings Redesign, and more.
Logged-In Sites

On Instapaper iOS and macOS, you can now sign in to websites directly within the app. When you're logged into sites, Instapaper can more reliably retrieve and display complete articles.
Increasingly, we’re seeing more “hard paywalls” across the Internet, where publishers are preventing third parties from accessing content. Sometimes, this results in Instapaper only receiving part of an article and, other times, Instapaper is completely blocked from accessing any information including basic metadata (i.e. title, author, image thumbnail, etc.).
We support publishers in serving their content however they’d like. That said, paid subscribers of those publishers should be able to access that content in whichever browsers, apps, or user-agents they’d like. 
To get started, navigate to Settings > Logged-In Sites > Navigate to website > Login with your credentials > Tap "Save Login".
As a reminder, you can long press an article in the list to redownload it, or save new articles to get the full content.
Paywall Detection

Our article parsers now detect paywalls and provide instructions for accessing the complete content when you have a subscription.
On iOS and macOS, you can use Logged-In Sites in order to access the paywalled content, and we prompt you to login to the website directly from the paywall notice.
On Instapaper.com, the best way to access the full content for a paywalled site is to open the article, ensure you’re logged in to the website, and use one of our browser extensions to save the article.
Settings Redesign

We re-wrote Settings on iOS and macOS to conform to the app theme, improve the organization of Settings pages, and make it easier for our team to add and manage Settings.
We also added three new settings in Settings > Behavior to customize Instapaper further:
Save Delay: Adjusts the amount of time that the Save screen shows. You can set this to "None" to have it disappear as quickly as possible.
Auto-Lock: Prevents your screen from locking in reader when disabled.
Line Breaks in Code: Prevents line breaks in code blocks when disabled.
Other Improvements
We’re also launching a number of other fixes and improvements, including…
Fixed issue where article information was not showing on lock screen when using text-to-speech Playlists.
Improved Full Screen Image Viewer on all platforms, but big improvements to iPad and macOS.
Improvements to device rotation on iPad, and reduced crashing.
Other minor fixes and improvements.

Biuro JAG
Biuro Sędziego Rzecznika Generalnego (JAG) jest elementem Kanadyjskich Sił Zbrojnych (CAF), który zapewnia wsparcie JAG w wykonywaniu jego obowiązków. Biuro jest ucieleśnione w regularnych siłach CAF, a JAG jest wyznaczony jako oficer posiadający uprawnienia i jurysdykcję oficera dowodzącego dowództwem.
Obowiązki urzędników prawnych oddelegowanych na stanowisko w Biurze JAG są określane przez JAG lub z jego upoważnienia, a w odniesieniu do wykonywania ich obowiązków ci urzędnicy prawni nie podlegają dowództwu żadnego urzędnika, który nie jest urzędnikiem prawnym.
Biuro JAG składa się z funkcjonariuszy prawnych sił regularnych i rezerwowych. Regularni urzędnicy prawni są zatrudnieni w całym CAF, w Kanadzie i za granicą w następujący sposób:
Kwatera Główna Obrony Narodowej w Ottawie;
biura asystenta sędziego generalnego (AJAG), sześć w Kanadzie, jedno w Stanach Zjednoczonych i jedno w Niemczech;
Biura zastępcy sędziego adwokata (DJA) w całej Kanadzie;
Biura Regionalnej Prokuratury Wojskowej (RMP) w całej Kanadzie;
z kontyngentami CAF rozmieszczonymi za granicą; i
w szkoleniu z formacjami i jednostkami CAF uczestniczącymi w głównych ćwiczeniach krajowych i międzynarodowych.
Ponadto prawnicy są również zatrudnieni w Biurze Radcy Prawnego Departamentu Obrony Narodowej i Sił Kanadyjskich (DND / CF LA) oraz Centrum Prawa Wojskowego CAF.

Prawo wojskowe
Sędzia rzecznik generalny pełni dwie wyjątkowe funkcje ustawowe określone w ustawie o obronie narodowej (NDA). Sędzia rzecznik generalny jest oficerem mianowanym przez gubernatora w Radzie, do sprawowania nadsądzenia wymiaru sprawiedliwości wojskowej w kanadyjskich siłach zbrojnych [s. 9.2 ust. 1].
W odniesieniu do tej funkcji nadzorcy nieżyjący już sędzia Lamer skomentował, że intencją przepisu prawnego "było uznanie i kontynuowanie wykonywania obowiązków podobnych do obowiązków Prokuratora Generalnego, historycznie wykonywanych przez JAG zgodnie z angielskim prawem zwyczajowym".1
Sędzia rzecznik generalny pełni również odrębną funkcję doradcy prawnego gubernatora generalnego, ministra, departamentu i kanadyjskich sił zbrojnych w sprawach związanych z prawem wojskowym [s. 9.1]. Kanadyjskie prawo wojskowe obejmuje prawo odnoszące się do konstytucyjnie odrębnego systemu sprawiedliwości wojskowej, a także zarządzania, administracji i działań kanadyjskich sił zbrojnych.
Prawo wojskowe reguluje siły zbrojne w pokoju i podczas konfliktów zbrojnych, w kraju i za granicą. Zakres prawa wojskowego znajduje odzwierciedlenie w fakcie, że sędzia rzecznik generalny jest doradcą prawnym zarówno Departamentu, jak i Kanadyjskich Sił Zbrojnych.
Tutaj s. 9.1 ustawy o obronie narodowej odzwierciedla rolę sędziego rzecznika generalnego w udzielaniu porad w sprawach związanych zarówno z operacjami międzynarodowymi, jak i krajowym rozmieszczeniem kanadyjskich sił zbrojnych w operacjach takich jak patrole suwerenności oraz w pomocy cywilnym organom ścigania.
"Prawo wojskowe" oznacza:"... całe prawo międzynarodowe i krajowe odnoszące się do sił kanadyjskich, w tym ich zarządzanie, administracja i działalność".2
Obszary doradztwa w zakresie prawa wojskowego, za które sędzia rzecznik generalny jest bezpośrednio odpowiedzialny, obejmują między innymi prawo międzynarodowe i operacyjne, prawo karne i politykę wojskowego wymiaru sprawiedliwości, szkolenie i edukację wojskową, skargi, komisje śledcze i dochodzenia doraźne, prawo wyborcze, odszkodowania i świadczenia, prawo personelu wojskowego oraz organizację, dowodzenie i kontrolę kanadyjskich sił zbrojnych.
Prawo operacyjne, które pojawiło się w ciągu ostatnich 30 lat jako podstawowy obszar doradztwa w zakresie prawa wojskowego, jest definiowane jako zbiór prawa krajowego i międzynarodowego, który ma zastosowanie do prowadzenia wszystkich faz operacji CAF na wszystkich poziomach dowodzenia.3
Obejmuje ona między innymi prawo dotyczące wywiadu, operacji informacyjnych, operacji sieci komputerowych, międzynarodowego prawa dotyczącego praw człowieka, międzynarodowego prawa humanitarnego i przeglądów broni.
Biuro Sędziego Rzecznika Generalnego świadczy wszystkie usługi prawne w Dowództwach Operacyjnych (Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC), Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM)); w North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD); w biurach terenowych w Kanadzie i Niemczech; oraz na wdrożonych operacjach.

社交淘客是什么?怎么做?社交淘客模式的选择与思考
先说结论,入社交淘客行业,我选的是自营+代理。
我一直在想是选自营还是代理模式(招商模式在最开始就被我自己排除了,实在没有资源和经验)。经过材料搜集和调查后,我意识到自营和代理是有递进关系的,不是非A即B的关系,他们是互补互促的关系。
就好比,你开了一家米粉店,如果你想招加盟商,那你得先把第一家米粉店的旗舰店打造好了。一是你自己有了运营的经验,你才能更好的告诉你的加盟商到底是如何做才能赚钱;二是你有了成功的样本,才能吸引更多的人来了解,信服你这一份事业。这是正循环。
特别对于我这样的新手来说,需要很多一线的实操经验。
自营和代理模式,在我看来,一种是对消费者,重点在于人群积累数量、购物推荐流程;一种是对想赚钱的中小推广者,重点在于裂变和培养、垂直社群的维护。这是本质的区别。
对我而言,做这两个模式有什么优势呢?
如果我做自营,我的优势是:我是广告和传媒出身,写过文章、做过视频、拍过节目、投过KOL、投过各种海内外的付费广告渠道、做过社群管理、有经营自媒体的经验。好,我只要把电商导购这一环补充上来,利用我上面所提及的经验,把流程演练一遍,然后放大、复制,相信对我来说,这不是难事。当然,各种环节都涉及到繁琐的操作,我现在有1个稳定的合作伙伴,经验不多,但可以分担执行工作。另外,我愿意在这方面有一定的投资,我相信付费的力量。
如果我做代理,我的优势是:我曾经是知识付费模式的重度用户,本身是营销专业出身,并且在做传媒时,和各种创业者接触过,能对主流的商业模式进行提炼和分析,有演讲和基本应变能力。这些能力放在代理中,就能把社交淘客的各环节拆解重组,通过我自己擅长的内容经营,传递给下级代理。可以想象,当我需要管理50人以上的社交淘客代理时,我需要展现出我比他们要强的专业能力,才能长远的发展和维护这些人。有钱一起赚,如果裂变维护得好,量级会比自营要强得多,而且未来存在平台之间平移的可能性(假设福袋生活这个APP被做烂了),就像当年微商们纷纷涌来做社交淘客。
好,明确了我的基本模式后,我把我对市场的一些观察角度作了一些整理。
一,关于平台
我分别关注了福袋生活、花生日记、粉象生活、高佣联盟、蜜源、好省、芝麻鲸选这7个APP,以iOS平台作为分析基础。从排名、关键词、排名等分析,我认为粉象生活和高佣联盟是目前数据最好的,第二级为花生日记和蜜源,第三级是福袋生活和好省。
这些APP中,粉象生活和福袋生活是强制要求使用邀请码注册的,在一开始就确立平台的层级关系。这种方式,对粘性和裂变数量有帮助。很好。其他APP大多是直接手机注册就可以。
但是注意,我从安装量得到的调研结果是福袋生活是靠后的。我分析有几点原因,因为做得晚(它前身是赚生活),还处于上升期。反过来看,上升期的产品才是最有潜力的。

以上是关于代理模式的一些情报。接下来谈谈自营的:
我所接触的自营淘客,主要是在微信体系里的,以微信群和朋友圈为主,虽然我没有看到他们背后的操作,但是应该是软件自动发单的模式,还有一些是自己弄了个网页,植入在公众号里。这些方式简单粗暴,以执行工作为主,策略上并不太新鲜。
但是自营模式,我觉得需要的是耐心。需要找到自己擅长的品类,做出优质的内容,这样才是可持续性的。你也不可能做完整个大淘宝品类,不然你去再个开一个福袋生活好了。
所以,自营在我看来,通过分析利润、内容类型、流量渠道等,来确立自己的引流模式,然后坚持下去。这就是最重要的。策略上并没有什么秘笈。
如果非要说秘笈,我认为是技术。技术可以代替大量繁杂的人工操作,能够在你面对的大体量社群人数时体现出优势。不然一个一个去维护,也是会累死,效果还不好。我有技术的合伙人,但自己也在学习python这类自动化的简单编程,希望以后能���挥出作用。

Amy's ICU Arrest

The intensive care unit (ICU) is a department in most hospitals that focuses on patients who are critically injured or ill, and often on the verge of death. The ICU has advanced equipment that typically isn't found in other departments of the hospital, and ICU staff members receive extensive training and have in-depth expertise, giving their gravely ill or injured patients the best chance possible given the circumstances. Despite all of this, patients still succumb to their injuries and illness in the ICU.
Our latest ICU casualty was 27 year old Amy Russell. Amy was a petite, nerdy white woman standing at 5'4 with big blue eyes, brown hair with bangs, fair skin, and a small tattoo on her left ankle. Amy was a nice, quiet girl who kept to herself most of the time, and had a promising career in IT.
Amy ended up in our ICU after being involved in a bad car accident while driving home from work. Amy had an open fracture in her right femur, a ruptured spleen, lacerated splenic artery, lacerated splenic vein, and a lacerated left gastric vein. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was taken up to the operating room shortly after arrival at the emergency department to treat her injuries and stabilize her. Amy's surgery was touch and go for awhile, but she pulled through. The surgical team had to remove her spleen, ligate her splenic and left gastric veins, cauterize her splenic artery, and repair her open femur fracture via internal fixation and intermedullary nailing.
Since she was still in rough shape after surgery, it was decided that she would be sent to the ICU for observation and be left on sedation for pain management purposes. After surgery, Amy's vital signs were: BP 107/70, heart rate 104bpm, o2 saturation 100% on a high flow oxygen ventilator, and she had a GCS of 10. The ICU team also had Amy set up on an antibiotic cocktail to limit post-operative infection, and weaned her off of fluid resuscitation and blood products since her vascular injuries were repaired. Initially, it seemed like Amy was on a slow and steady path to recovery.
Amy laid in the ICU bed intubated, with the tube connected to a blue tube holder, and hooked up to a ventilator. There were EKG electrodes scattered all over her chest, which was covered by a blanket. There was a large bandage covering a majority of her abdomen from the intense surgery she just endured, and her right thigh was immobilized and covered with bandages. The ICU nurses checked on Amy every few minutes after surgery.
She remained stable for several hours, but the situation changed in the middle of the night. Just shy of 3am, Amy became hypotensive, displaying a BP of 85/47. A bedside FAST scan was ordered, a d-dimer was ordered, and a chest x ray was performed. The FAST scan and x-ray didn't show anything new, and the d-dimer was slightly elevated. The ICU team felt that Amy could've developed a post-op PE, but felt uneasy about administering anticoagulant drugs due to her freshly repaired vascular injuries. The ICU team elected to have a pulmonology consult before deciding on their next move.
The pulmonologist arrived within the next few minutes. Their assessment of Amy concluded that she didn't have a pulmonary embolism even though she had certain diagnostic indicators. The pulmonologist thought Amy was suffering from something known as a fat embolism. This is a scenario where bone marrow (typically from a broken bone) ends up in blood supply, and becomes lodged elsewhere in the body. These incidents are particularly lethal when the stray bone marrow becomes lodged in the lungs or brain.
Since fat emboli are an uncommon occurrence, the pulmonologist wanted to order a CT angiogram. Since she wasn't stable enough for transport to radiology, it was decided that a bronchoscopy was ordered to look for pulmonary edema, a textbook symptom associated with fat emboli. Repeat labs were also drawn to check for changes in hematocrit, hemoglobin, co2, and platelet levels.
The bronchoscopy confirmed pulmonary edema, and the labs had abnormal results; hematocrit was 27.3%, hemoglobin was 9.1 g/dL, co2 was 37 mEq/L, and her platelet levels were down to 114,000 per microlitre. The ICU team administered vasopressors to increase BP, hung 2 units of platelets from the rapid infuser, started her on an IV drip of iron to help with hemoglobin and hematocrit, a bag of albumin was hung, and a central venous pressure (CVP) monitor was set up. Additional electrodes were stuck onto Amy's chest, and a separate display monitor was set up for the CVP.
All of the interventions did little to nothing to improve Amy's condition. Her BP remained low, she developed tachycardia, and developed petechial rashes on both her axillary areas. Since Amy's condition wasn't improving, the doses for all her medications were upped, her ventilator settings were altered, and a 3rd and 4th unit of platelets were started on the rapid infuser.
Her course of treatments continued for another hour or so, but things changed around 4am. At that time, Amy's ET tube became filled with blood and her blood pressure was taking a nosedive. A few nurses rushed into the room and began suctioning her ET tube out. The attending physician and a few respiratory techs were notified of the sudden change.
The nurses kept suctioning out blood, but Amy wasn't moving any air. The respiratory techs had to reintubate Amy, which proved to be a difficult task. Shortly after reintubation, Amy went into cardiac arrest.
Deep, rapid chest compressions were started by one of the nurses. The nurse could feel a few of Amy's ribs pop just beneath her gloved hand as she delivered strong, forceful compressions. Amy's skinny chest caved in rhythmically during the initial phase of the code. Just a few feet away, another nurse detached the ventilator and hooked an ambu bag onto Amy's ET tube. A 3rd nurse stuck defib pads onto Amy's bare chest, and another nurse was injecting the first doses of epinephrine, atropine, and sodium bicarbonate into the young woman's IV. The heart monitors showed pulseless electrical activity (PEA), so CPR, ambu bagging, and drugs were the only course of action that could be taken right away.
Amy just laid in the bed, eyes closed while her chest took an absolute beating. The nurses pumped away on her frail, skinny chest. Her head bobbed during each individual compression, and her feet swayed at the other end of the bed, showing off the delicate, silky wrinkles in the soles of her size 6 feet.
The first 3 minutes worth of resuscitation efforts failed to convert the young brunette out of PEA, so a 2nd round of drugs were injected intravenously. Amy continued to receive fast, hard chest compressions, but the first nurse got tired, so they swapped out with another nearby nurse. The monitors chirped loudly in the half second in which CPR was stopped during the switch, but began beeping rhythmically once compressions were restarted. About 2 minutes later, Amy's ET tube refilled with blood, so suction had to be applied for the 2nd time. The tube was cleared, only to refill just 30 seconds later. While the breathing tube was suctioned out, Amy also started developing a nosebleed, and was bleeding from her IV sites. Amy went into rapid onset DIC, so FFP and more platelets were hung from the rapid infuser.
At the 6 minute mark of the code, Amy remained in PEA. Since the DIC compromised her IV sites, an IO was drilled into her left thigh since a central line placement wasn't a practical option at that moment. After one of the resident physicians drilled the IO in place, the next round of drugs were injected intraosseously.
At the 7 and a half minute mark of the code, Amy finally converted to V-Fib. The defib pads were charged to 250j, and a shock was delivered after all personnel stood clear. Amy's back arched, and her chest was thrust into the air briefly, but the shock failed to convert her out of V-Fib. A cycle of hearty, vigorous chest compressions were performed before the next shock.
A 300j shock was delivered in the coming seconds. Amy's body jerked and her toes curled slightly, wrinkling the soles of her feet. Post shock, her toes released from the clenched position back into a relaxed state. Shock #2 failed to produce a pulse, so a 3rd shock was delivered shortly thereafter at 360j. Amy's lifeless body jolted violently on the bed as the dose of electricity coursed through her dying body. This shock sent Amy back into PEA, so CPR and ambu bagging was resumed, along with the next dose of drugs going into the IO.
The next few minutes came and went with no change, with Amy's downtime just passing 10 minutes. Blood leaked from her nose and rolled down by her mouth and her cheeks from DIC. Blood was dripping down both her arms from her former IV sites. Amy's complexion was a ghostly, sickly whitish grey, and she was cool to the touch.
Approximately 3 minutes later, Amy's ET tube had to be suctioned out for the 4th time in such a short period of time. The plastic suction tube made a slurping sound as it gulped up all the blood that clogged the breathing tube. Just a few inches away, one of the nurses was pounding away on Amy's chest. The nurse had a red, flushed look on their face due to the tiring nature of giving compressions. However, they knew their inner complaints were nothing compared to what Amy was going through, so they kept going.
Several more unproductive minutes passed, with Amy deteriorating to an agonal rhythm. Yet another cycle of drugs were given, but once again failed to work effectively. The entire ICU team was growing more and more tired from giving chest compressions, and the once loud, hectic room became eerily silent, knowing that the end appeared to be near for the young woman they've been working on.
The ICU team coded Amy for another 5 minutes, but she was maxed out on drugs, asystolic, and had blown pupils. At that point, the ICU team ceased their efforts, calling time of death at 4:34am after an 18 minute code. The ambu bag was detached and the flatlined monitors were switched off. The nurses quietly removed the EKG electrodes and defib pads from Amy's bruised, battered chest. Lastly, her body was covered and a toe tag was placed before she was sent off to the morgue.
Amy's autopsy revealed that she died from multiple small to medium sized fat emboli. The particles of fat and bone marrow originated in her femur fracture, eventually becoming trapped within the pulmonary artery of the right lung and the left interlobar artery. The ICU team diagnosed Amy correctly, but the discovery was made too late, which unfortunately led to the beautiful young woman's death.

INTERNET OF THINGS(IOT)
The definition of the Internet of things has evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies, real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors, and embedded systems.[1] Traditional fields of embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, control systems, automation (including home and building automation), and others all contribute to enabling the Internet of things. In the consumer market, IoT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the concept of the "smart home", covering devices and appliances (such as lighting fixtures, thermostats, home security systems and cameras, and other home appliances) that support one or more common ecosystems, and can be controlled via devices associated with that ecosystem, such as smartphones and smart speakers.
There are a number of serious concerns about dangers in the growth of IoT, especially in the areas of privacy and security, and consequently industry and governmental moves to address these concerns have begun.
History
The main concept of a network of smart devices was discussed as early as 1982, with a modified Coca-Cola vending machine at Carnegie Mellon University becoming the first Internet-connected appliance, able to report its inventory and whether newly loaded drinks were cold or not.Mark Weiser's 1991 paper on ubiquitous computing, "The Computer of the 21st Century", as well as academic venues such as UbiComp and PerCom produced the contemporary vision of the IoT. In 1994, Reza Raji described the concept in IEEE Spectrum as "[moving] small packets of data to a large set of nodes, so as to integrate and automate everything from home appliances to entire factories".Between 1993 and 1997, several companies proposed solutions like Microsoft's at Work or Novell's NEST. The field gained momentum when Bill Joy envisioned device-to-device communication as a part of his "Six Webs" framework, presented at the World Economic Forum at Davos in 1999.
The term "Internet of things" was likely coined by Kevin Ashton of Procter & Gamble, later MIT's Auto-ID Center, in 1999, though he prefers the phrase "Internet for things". At that point, he viewed radio-frequency identification (RFID) as essential to the Internet of things,which would allow computers to manage all individual things.
Defining the Internet of things as "simply the point in time when more 'things or objects' were connected to the Internet than people", Cisco Systems estimated that the IoT was "born" between 2008 and 2009, with the things/people ratio growing from 0.08 in 2003 to 1.84 in 2010.
The key driving force behind the Internet of things is the MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor, or MOS transistor),which was originally invented by Mohamed M. Atalla and Dawon Kahng at Bell Labs in 1959.The MOSFET is the basic building block of most modern electronics, including computers, smartphones, tablets and Internet services. MOSFET scaling miniaturization at a pace predicted by Dennard scaling and Moore's law has been the driving force behind technological advances in the electronics industry since the late 20th century. MOSFET scaling has been extended into the early 21st century with advances such as reducing power consumption, silicon-on-insulator (SOI) semiconductor device fabrication, and multi-core processor technology, leading up to the Internet of things, which is being driven by MOSFETs scaling down to nanoelectronic levels with reducing energy consumption.

Privacy and security concern :
As for IoT, information about a user's daily routine is collected so that the “things” around the user can cooperate to provide better services that fulfill personal preference. When the collected information which describes a user in detail travels through multiple hops in a network, due to a diverse integration of services, devices and network,the information stored on a device is vulnerable to privacy violation by compromising nodes existing in an IoT network.
For example, on 21 October 2016,a multiple distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks systems operated by domain name system provider Dyn, which caused the inaccessibility of several websites, such as GitHub, Twitter, and others. This attack is executed through a botnet consisting of a large number of IoT devices including IP cameras, gateways, and even baby monitors.
Fundamentally there are 4 security objectives that the IOT system requires:(1)data confidentiality: unauthorized parties cannot have access to the transmitted and stored data.(2)data integrity: intentional and unintentional corruption of transmitted and stored data must be detected.(3)non-repudiation: the sender cannot deny having sent a given message.(4)data availability: the transmitted and stored data should be available to authorized parties even with the denial-of-service (DOS) attacks
IoT adoption barriers :
Lack of interoperability and unclear value proposition
Despite a shared belief in the potential of the IoT, industry leaders and consumers are facing barriers to adopt IoT technology more widely. Mike Farley argued in Forbes that while IoT solutions appeal to early adopters, they either lack interoperability or a clear use case for end-users. A study by Ericsson regarding the adoption of IoT among Danish companies suggests that many struggle "to pinpoint exactly where the value of IoT lies for them".

The extensive set of applications for IoT devices is often divided into consumer, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure spaces.
Consumer applicationS
A growing portion of IoT devices are created for consumer use, including connected vehicles, home automation, wearable technology, connected health, and appliances with remote monitoring capabilities.
Smart home
IoT devices are a part of the larger concept of home automation, which can include lighting, heating and air conditioning, media and security systems. Long-term benefits could include energy savings by automatically ensuring lights and electronics are turned off.
A smart home or automated home could be based on a platform or hubs that control smart devices and appliances. For instance, using Apple's HomeKit, manufacturers can have their home products and accessories controlled by an application in iOS devices such as the iPhone and the Apple Watch. This could be a dedicated app or iOS native applications such as Siri. This can be demonstrated in the case of Lenovo's Smart Home Essentials, which is a line of smart home devices that are controlled through Apple's Home app or Siri without the need for a Wi-Fi bridge.[31] There are also dedicated smart home hubs that are offered as standalone platforms to connect different smart home products and these include the Amazon Echo, Google Home, Apple's HomePod, and Samsung's SmartThings Hub. In addition to the commercial systems, there are many non-proprietary, open source ecosystems; including Home Assistant, OpenHAB and Domoticz.
Elder care
One key application of a smart home is to provide assistance for those with disabilities and elderly individuals. These home systems use assistive technology to accommodate an owner's specific disabilities. Voice control can assist users with sight and mobility limitations while alert systems can be connected directly to cochlear implants worn by hearing-impaired users.They can also be equipped with additional safety features. These features can include sensors that monitor for medical emergencies such as falls or seizures.Smart home technology applied in this way can provide users with more freedom and a higher quality of life.
The term "Enterprise IoT" refers to devices uSed in business and corporate settings. By 2019, it is estimated that the EIoT will account for 9.1 billion devices
Commercial application and Medical and healthcare :
The Internet medical things (IoMT) is an application of the IoT for medical and health related purposes, data collection and analysis for research, and monitoring.[38][39][40][41][42] The IoMT has been referenced as "Smart Healthcare",[43] as the technology for creating a digitized healthcare system, connecting available medical resources and healthcare services.[citation needed][44]
IoT devices can be used to enable remote health monitoring and emergency notification systems. These health monitoring devices can range from blood pressure and heart rate monitors to advanced devices capable of monitoring specialized implants, such as pacemakers, Fitbit electronic wristbands, or advanced hearing aids. Some hospitals have begun implementing "smart beds" that can detect when they are occupied and when a patient is attempting to get up. It can also adjust itself to ensure appropriate pressure and support is applied to the patient without the manual interaction of nurses. A 2015 Goldman Sachs report indicated that healthcare IoT devices "can save the United States more than $300 billion in annual healthcare expenditures by increasing revenue and decreasing cost." Moreover, the use of mobile devices to support medical follow-up led to the creation of 'm-health', used analyzed health statistics."

Infrastructure applications :
Monitoring and controlling operations of sustainable urban and rural infrastructures like bridges, railway tracks and on- and offshore wind-farms is a key application of the IoT. The IoT infrastructure can be used for monitoring any events or changes in structural conditions that can compromise safety and increase risk. The IoT can benefit the construction industry by cost saving, time reduction, better quality workday, paperless workflow and increase in productivity. It can help in taking faster decisions and save money with Real-Time Data Analytics. It can also be used for scheduling repair and maintenance activities in an efficient manner, by coordinating tasks between different service providers and users of these facilities. IoT devices can also be used to control critical infrastructure like bridges to provide access to ships. Usage of IoT devices for monitoring and operating infrastructure is likely to improve incident management and emergency response coordination, and quality of service, up-times and reduce costs of operation in all infrastructure related areas. Even areas such as waste management can benefit from automation and optimization that could be brought in by the IoT.
